HackMii installer v0.3

Yay, finally another release!
そして再びリリース！

Version 0.2 of our installer (the BootMii beta2 release) is almost 3 month old, and we finally got around to push out some fixes.
インストーラーのバージョン0.2(BootMii beta2のリリース)からもう3ヶ月の月日が流れました。ここでついに修正版のお出ましです。

We hoped to have some nice additions for HBC done for this release, but unfortunately those are not yet ready for prime time. We didn’t want to delay some fixes to the installer and BootMii any further, so we hope you enjoy this one – even if HBC remains unchanged compared to BootMii beta 2.
本来なら今回のリリースでHomebrew Channelに素晴らしい機能追加を考えていましたが、間の悪いことにまだ時期尚早だったのです。インストーラーとBootMiiの修正をこれ以上遅らせたくなかったので今回はこの形でお願いします。Homebrew ChannelはBootMii beta 2の時と変わっていませんが。

HackMii installer (v0.3):

* Saner selection of IOSs for the installer itself and the installed HBC
* インストーラー自体もHomebrew Channelも、より適切なIOSを選択するようにしました。
* BootMii will now install on Wiis with bad blocks in the boot2 area
* BootMiiがbad blockとなったWiiのboot2エリアへもインストールできるようになりました。
* Fixed some hangs when rebooting Starlet
* Starlet(コードを実行するWiiのプロセッサー)再起動時に動かなくなるバグを修正しました。

BootMii beta 3 (v1.0):

* Improved the SD card compability
* SDカードの互換性を改善しました。
* Increased the backup/restore speed for some SD cards, but decreased it for others :P
* SDカードによってはバックアップ/レストアの速度が改善されました。が、モノによっては逆に悪化するものも…
* Fix GPIO input for all Wiis
* Wiiの全GPIOの入力を修正しました。
* Wavebird support
* Wavebird(ゲームキューブ用ワイヤレスコントローラー)をサポートしました。
* Fixed a silly bug where NAND backups were left as 0 byte files
* NANDバックアップが0バイトになるくだらないバグを修正しました。
* Keys are now saved to SD as /bootmii/keys.bin too
* キーを/bootmii/keys.binにも保存するようにしました。

BootMiiはベータ版といいながら不安定さはなかったのであまりアップデートの必要がないのかと思っていましたがバグはまだあったようです。
今回はbeta 3とはいいながらバージョンが1.0と正式版ライクなのが少しうれしいですね。
Homebrew Channelになんらかの機能追加も予定されているようですし、次回アップデートの楽しみが増えました。

HackMiiでBootMii beta2がリリースされていました。boot2としてインストールできるWiiが増え、さらにアンインストールも可能になったようです。【情報源:HackMii】

BootMii beta 2

Two weeks after beta 1 we bring you the first bugfix release: beta 2. Next to the usual metric ton of minor fixes and cleanups, here are the changes worth mentioning:
ベータ1から2週間経ちましたが、今回はバグ修正版ベータ2のリリースです。ちょっとした修正とコードの整理をしました。お伝えできる変更点は以下です:

BootMii beta 2 (v0.9):

SD card performance has been improved, decreasing the boot and the NAND backup / restore time
SDカードのパフォーマンスを改善しました。起動時間とNANDのバックアップ/レストア時間を短縮しました。
■backupmii accepts fragmented SD cards now, reformatting is not performed anymore. Old NAND dumps are still compatible.
Backupmiiでは断片化したSDカードでも使えるようになりました。再フォーマットの必要はもうありません。以前バックアップしたNANDとも互換性があります。
■Introduced the INI variable BOOTDELAY to set the timeout for the auto boot feature
オートブート機能でのタイムアウトを設定するためにBOOTDELAYの設定用INIファイルを導入しました。

The Homebrew Channel v1.0.3:

■SDHC cards are working again
SDHCカードを再び使えるようにしました。
■SD performance has been increased again (regression was introduced in v1.0.2)
SDカードのパフォーマンスを再び改善しました。(v1.0.2で悪くなってました)
■HBC works on all system menu versions now
HBCが全システムメニューのバージョンで動作するようになりました。
■Fixed rare hangs when exiting HBC
HBC終了時にまれにハングしていたのを修正しました。

DVDX:

■Switched back to IOS < 37. While the SDHC problem for apps using DVDX has been fixed in libogc, there were also problems with USB keyboards under higher IOS versions
IOSを37未満に変更しました。DVDX利用時アプリケーションでのSDHCに問題があったためlibogcを修正しました。IOSのバージョンが高い場合にはUSBキーボードに問題が出るかもしれません。

Installer v0.2:

■Installer now works on newer Wiis with boot2v4
インストーラーは新しめのWiiでもboot2v4として動作します。
■Fixed reading of boot1/2 on Wiis with bad ECC data in that area
ECCデータが正常でなくてもWiiのboot1/2を読み込むように修正しました。
■BootMii as boot2 and IOS can now be uninstalled
boot2やIOSとしてインストールしたBootMiiを今回からアンインストールできるようにしました。

BootMii is a set of software that can be installed on Nintendo Wiic consoles to provide added functionality, safety and convenience.

BootMii for Users:
BootMii is a piece of software that can be installed as an IOS or inserted into the boot process. As an IOS, it provides a fast way to back up your Wii’s internal NAND flash memory, and will eventually form the basis of a new generation of homebrew applications for the Wii. Inserted into the boot process, BootMii provides you with a “safety net” — you can back up your entire Wii to SD in under three minutes! If you were to brick your Wii, BootMii would still run and let you restore your backup from SD, quickly and painlessly. BootMii also allows you to directly boot the Homebrew channel or other homebrew from SD, bypassing the “warning screen” and the rest of the menu.

このブログにはWii SaveMii&BootMiiというカテゴリーを設けてあります。SaveMiiとBootMiiという、Team Twiizersの2つのコンセプトが告知された時からこのブログではWiiに変革をもたらすものとして注目していました。そのため当初からWii Hackカテゴリとは別建てしてあります。
SaveMiiを活用するためにはMODチップ取り付けが必要という高いハードルがありましたが、BootMiiはそれすら不要にしています。
NANDフラッシュを扱えるところはPSPのパンドラバッテリーと似ていますね。Wiiの時代がやって来たかもしれません。
